Children

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me..." -Matthew 19:14

At Prince of Peace, we value the spiritual experience of children. We believe that it is never too early to begin to nurture the spiritual growth of children as followers of Jesus. We love to partner with parents, grandparents, and caregivers in the spiritual formation of a child, and equip them to feel confident in discipling the children in their care. We aim to welcome children into the church life at Prince of Peace as much as possible, while still providing them with age appropriate Christian education and space to express themselves within the church.

Families visit https://www.popv.org/lenten-guide for a guide to the Lenten Path as you journey toward Jerusalem reflecting on the suffering and rejection of Jesus.

Sunday Mornings

We use a curriculum that is rooted in the incredible truth that God has come to rescue his children from their own sin through his Son Jesus Christ. It explores the biblical narrative from creation and the fall to Jesus' sacrificial victory on the cross to the promise of a new heaven and earth. It is taught in the context of worship through liturgy, song, scripture memory, story presentation, wondering questions, catechesis (teaching of doctrine and the faith), prayer, and many reflective and creative responses geared to a variety of age groups.

Children's Worship

11:00 AM (Alongside the Modern Service)

Our Children's Worship is designed for elementary aged kids to experience God on their level.  We ask they families check in children at one of the stations in the lobby or hallway before church begins then enter the sanctuary together. The child will receive a sticker with their name and specific number on it. The same number will be on a smaller sticker given to their parent/guardian, at pick up please provide the parent sticker. We ask that parents also provide a mobile phone number they can be reached at during the service if an issue arrises. Kids will be released before the sermon to go with their leaders to their classroom. Each Sunday they will have an opportunity to work on memory verses or catechism questions, hear God's word through story presentation, respond in variety of ways, read from the Bible, and pray together while seeing how each story in the Bible comes together to tell us God's Big Story. The children will then be brought back into the service before communion.

Nursery

9 AM &11:00 AM (Alongside the Traditional & Modern Service)

Our Nursery program offers 0-4 year olds a worship experience of their own. The little ones will have free play, songs, a Bible lesson, and age appropriate response time led by loving and attentive leaders. Upon arrival, please use one of the stations in the lobby or hallway to get your little one checked in. The child will receive a sticker with their name and specific number on it. The same number will be on a smaller sticker given to their parent/guardian, at pick up please provide the parent sticker. We ask that parents also provide a mobile phone number they can be reached at during the service if an issue arrises. Parents are welcome to pick up their children before communion or after the conclusion of the service. Our team loves to care for your little ones and give them opportunities to experience God on their level while you are worshiping in the sanctuary.

Wednesday Evenings

POP Kids Community Group: Music Makers
6-7PM

Each week our elementary aged children will be led to make a joyful noise unto the Lord as they have the opportunity to hear a retelling of the Bible story from the Sunday before, as well as learn memory verses and reinforce Biblical truths through song. The children will also learn seasonal songs to be presented on Sundays throughout the year. Nursery care (0-4 yr olds) will also be provided.

Security

At Prince of Peace, security is incredibly important to us. We value providing our children with a physically and emotionally safe environment. Our employees and volunteers are interviewed, background checked, and required to complete abuse prevention training. There will be, at minimum, two adults present in every room or event with children. Our goal is to provide a space that parents can feel comfortable and confident when leaving their children with us.

Events

Join us for Together Tuesday every 4th Tuesday of the month at 10AM. We meet at a local playground for fellowship while the children play. Contact autumn@popv.org for this month's location.

Throughout the year we have several events that bring the church together for a variety of reasons. Some events like our Back to School party also serve as a way to give back to the community through a school supply drive. Some events like Vacation Bible School are a way for the children in our church and community to be discipled and build relationships. Others like our Advent Wreath Workshop serve as a community building event within our church and while also equipping families to nurture their child's spiritual development at home.
