Confirmation &
Membership

For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control (2 Timothy 1:6-7).
Confirmation is "lay ordination for ministry." The Bishop lays hands upon candidates, praying that they would be strengthened by the Holy Spirit to do the work of ministry. This historic practice of the church originated in the ministry of the Apostles. Peter and Paul would lay hands and pray for Christians to receive the Spirit for the work of ministry (Acts 8:14-17; 2 Timothy 1:6-7). At Prince of Peace, the expectations for being Confirmed are the same for Membership.

Request Confirmation/Membership

Those seeking confirmation or membership at Prince of Peace should fill out the Confirmation/Membership Form below. This form helps us determine where to start you in the confirmation or membership process. A pastor or staff person can assist you with general questions before or after Sunday worship, or you can call the church during the week (321-253-9102).

Guided Learning with a Sponsor

Candidates for confirmation (called "confirmands") will learn/review the essential teachings of the Christian faith as presented in "To Be A Christian," the official catechism of the Anglican Church in North America. Prince of Peace provides videos and other resources to guide confirmands through this material. Each confirmand is also assigned a sponsor who will pray for and assist the confirmand in this process.

Community Integration

Prince of Peace strives to be a faithful and flourishing community of Christ followers, and places the following expectations on its members: 1) Regular Sunday attendance, 2) Participation in a Community Group and/or Service Team, 3) Cheerful giving to the work of the kingdom, and 4) Faithful proclamation of Jesus' Lordship in both word and deed

Pastoral Review

The Pastoral Review is a gathering of confirmands, sponsors, and pastors to celebrate the completion of the Guided Learning and Community Integration. Personal testimonies and learning highlights are shared for mutual encouragement. Confirmands may sign the Membership Covenant in anticipation of Confirmation.

Confirmation

Confirmands are confirmed by Bishop Alex during his annual visit to Prince of Peace. The Bishop meets with confirmands prior to the Sunday service to explain the rite, offer encouragement, and answer questions. During the Sunday service, the bishop lays hands on each confirmand and prays:

"Defend, O Lord, this your servant with your heavenly grace, that s/he may continue yours for ever, and daily increase in your Holy Spirit more and more until s/he comes into the fullness of your everlasting kingdom. Amen."
