Welcome to the LEM Team

On this page you will find a brief overview of the responsibilities of the LEM Team, as well as a contact form to get started!

Goals of the LEM Team

Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs) assist in the distribution of Holy Communion during worship services and for homebound members, serving as an extension of the church’s ministry of Word and Sacrament. LEMs embody a spirit of service, attentiveness, and prayerfulness, striving to serve with faithfulness, humility, and love.

General Expectations of the LEM Team

The LEM Team consists of two distinct roles: LEMs in Worship and Visiting LEMs. In worship, LEMs play a vital role in assisting clergy with the distribution of Holy Communion. Their ministry ensures that the sacrament is distributed reverently, efficiently, and with a spirit of grace and hospitality. Visiting Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs) extend the church’s sacramental ministry beyond the walls of the sanctuary by bringing Holy Communion to homebound, hospitalized, and nursing home-bound members.
LEMs in Worship

LEMs serving in the worship service join the clergy at the altar table during the Lord's Prayer. They reverently distribute Communion, guiding communicants as needed. Afterward, they return remaining elements to the altar table,

Visiting LEMs
Visiting LEMs prepare by coordinating with clergy, receiving the sacrament, and gathering materials. They offer a warm greeting, lead a brief liturgy, distribute Communion, and provide encouragement. Afterward, they pray for recipients, return remaining elements, and report concerns to clergy, ensuring homebound members remain connected to the church community.
