Goals of the Missions Team

The Missions Team plays a vital role in the church’s mission. They serve as a bridge between the Vestry and the missionaries and mission organizations the church supports, ensuring strong, two-way communication. The team regularly connects with these missionaries and organizations to offer encouragement and support while also providing the Vestry with updates on mission projects. Additionally, the Missions Team reviews applications from missionaries and organizations seeking a formal partnership and submits recommendations to the Vestry for consideration.

General Expectations of the Missions Team

It is prefered that members of this team have experience as long term missionaries, or experience working with and supporting long term missions. This experience is vital for empathizing with the needs and experience of missionaries.
Regular Communication with Missionaries & Organizations
It is expected that the Missions Teams be in regular communication with those whom POP supports. This includes reviewing newsletters/blogs from the missionaries and organizations, checking in for support/encouragement, and evaluating goals and benchmarks for the missionaries/organizations.
Quarterly Team Meetings
The team will meet at a regularly scheduled time every quarter to report on communications with missionaries and organizations, as well as review any applications for new support opportunities. 
Hospitality
On the occasions where missionaries come to POP for the purpose of a report or visit, the missions team takes the lead to ensure a hospitable environment. This includes communicating with the missionaries for their needs, organizing receptions, etc.
