A Light for the Nations: Luke 2:22-40
Have you ever waited for something so long that you wondered if it would ever come? Simeon and Anna waited their whole lives for the promised Messiah. When they finally saw Jesus, they knew He was the fulfillment of God’s promise—a light to the nations. In Him, we find the hope and salvation we long for.
This passage describes Jesus’ presentation at the temple, a Jewish custom where firstborn sons were dedicated to the Lord. Simeon and Anna, two devout individuals, recognize Jesus as the promised Savior. Their words echo the prophecies of Isaiah, declaring that Jesus is the light for all people, not just Israel. Their testimony reminds us that Jesus came to bring salvation to the entire world, and our calling is to share that light with others.
Application
Lord, You are the light that shines in the darkness. Thank You for fulfilling Your promises through Jesus. Help me to reflect Your light to the world. Holy Spirit, guide me to share the hope of Christ with those around me.
