It Is Finished
Reading: John 19:16-30
Exposition: The Cost of Redemption
Good Friday brings us to the foot of the cross, where Jesus uttered His final words: “It is finished.” These words were not a cry of defeat, but of victory—His mission to redeem humanity was complete. He bore the weight of sin so that we might be free.
At this moment, the veil in the temple was torn, signifying that through His sacrifice, we now have direct access to God. His death was not the end of the story, but the turning point of history.
Application: Responding to the Cross
The cross calls us to surrender. Christ gave everything for us; how will we respond? We are invited to lay down our sin, burdens, and pride at His feet. Taking time to meditate on His sacrifice deepens our gratitude and devotion.
Transform Our Heart Through Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for bearing my sin and declaring, “It is finished.” Teach me to live in the power of Your sacrifice, surrendered to Your will. Holy Spirit, transform my heart through the cross. Amen.
