A New Creation in Christ
Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:17-21
Exposition: Wrestling with Identity and Purpose
Many struggle with questions of identity: “Who am I?” and “What is my purpose?” Paul answers this in 2 Corinthians, declaring that anyone in Christ is a new creation. The old has gone, and the new has come. Through Jesus, we are reconciled to God and called to be His ambassadors.
This passage reveals the heart of the gospel—God not only forgives us but gives us a new purpose. Just as Christ was sent to reconcile the world, we too are entrusted with this mission. Our identity is not defined by our past mistakes or accomplishments, but by what God has done in us.
Application: Living as a New Creation
Living as a new creation means embracing the truth of who we are in Christ. We must stop defining ourselves by our failures and instead walk in the freedom of God’s grace. Sharing His message of reconciliation with others is a natural response to experiencing His love. This can be done through words, actions, and living a life that reflects His transformation.
Transform Our Heart Through Prayer
Lord, thank You for making me a new creation in Christ. Help me to walk in my new identity and share Your message of reconciliation. Teach me to live in the freedom of Your grace. Holy Spirit, work through me to bring others to You. Amen.
