The Church as the Body of Christ (17th Wednesday - Questions 73-76)

Many people today see faith as a private matter, something between them and God alone. But the Bible teaches that Christianity is not a solitary journey. The Church is the Body of Christ, a family of believers united in faith and mission.
The catechism teaches that the Church is God’s household, where believers are nurtured, encouraged, and equipped for ministry (Ephesians 2:19-22; 4:11-16). We are called to love one another, bear one another’s burdens, and grow together in Christ (Romans 12:4-8; 1 Corinthians 12:12-27). The Church is not just a building or an institution but a living community, gathered around Word and Sacrament, empowered by the Spirit.

If you have ever felt disconnected from the Church, know that God has designed His people to walk together. Explore questions 73-76 in the catechism to understand the purpose and mission of the Church.
  • Engage in the life of the Church, recognizing it as God’s means of growing and strengthening believers.
  • Serve within the body, using your gifts to build up others and glorify Christ.

Transform Our Heart Through Prayer
Lord, thank You for the gift of the Church. Help me to love and serve my brothers and sisters in Christ. Unite us in Your Spirit, that we may glorify You together. Amen.
