Walking in Obedience

Walking in Obedience (Questions 63-68)

Modern culture often equates freedom with doing whatever we want. But true freedom is found in obedience to God, who created us for a purpose. When we walk in His ways, we experience the joy of living as we were meant to live.

The catechism teaches that God’s commandments reveal His will for our lives. They are not arbitrary rules but expressions of His character and His love for us (Exodus 20:1-21; Matthew 22:36-40). Jesus fulfilled the law and calls us to follow Him in faith and obedience (John 14:15; Romans 13:8-10). Obedience is not about legalism but about love—our response to the grace we have received.

Through the Holy Spirit, we are empowered to live according to God’s will. The commandments guide us, but grace sustains us (Galatians 5:16-25). Dive into questions 63-68 of the catechism to explore the call to obedience in the Christian life.
  • See God’s commandments as an invitation to love, not a burden to bear.
  • Depend on the Holy Spirit to walk in obedience, trusting in God’s grace.

Transform Our Heart Through Prayer
Lord, help me to delight in Your ways. Teach me to walk in obedience, not out of duty but out of love. Fill me with Your Spirit so that I may live in righteousness and truth. Amen.
