The Lord’s Supper: Remembering His Sacrifice

Reading: 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

Exposition: The Meaning of Communion
On the night before His crucifixion, Jesus shared a final meal with His disciples, instituting what we now call the Lord’s Supper. Paul reminds the Corinthians of this sacred act, emphasizing that each time we partake, we proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes again.
This meal is more than a ritual; it is a participation in Christ’s sacrifice. It reminds us of His body broken for us and His blood poured out for our salvation. In taking Communion, we receive His grace afresh and anticipate His return.

Application: Living in the Reality of Christ’s Sacrifice
Receiving the Lord’s Supper should transform our daily lives. It calls us to examine our hearts, reconcile with others, and live in gratitude for Christ’s redeeming love. As we partake, we are reminded to reflect His love in our actions.

Transform Our Heart Through Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for giving Your body and blood for me. Help me to live in the power of Your sacrifice, walking in love and humility. Holy Spirit, renew my heart as I remember Your grace. Amen.
